Don Smith on the First Anniversary of Mitel’s Acquisition of Inter-Tel and the First Unified Communications Ultra Thin Desktop

Don Smith, Mitel’s CEO, has a candid conversation with Jim Burton on why Mitel didn’t go public when it acquired Inter-Tel on August 17, 2007, the progress it has made as a combined company, an update on its unified communications initiatives, and Sun Microsystems and Mitel global partnership to provide an innovative and complete unified voice and ultra thin client desktop.

Unfortunately, due to technically difficulty the podcast associated with this article will need to be posted at later date.

An important part of Don and Jim’s conversation was about a Webcast on August 21, 2008  1:00 pm EDT, with Sun Microsystems’ chairman Scott McNealy and Mitel’s Chairman Terry Matthews. They will discuss a “New Paradigm in Enterprise UC”. Here is a link to more information.

This follows a March 6, 2008 press release where Mitel “introduced a pre-integrated business communications solution that delivers simplified system installation and management, business process improvement, and a reduction in operating costs by consolidating low-power consumption telephony and server hardware platforms for IT and unified communications applications.”
